
Marilyn Jarman
Marilyn has got over 20 years’ marketing experience working on B2B and B2C events. She started her career in the events industry in 2000 joining the electronics division of United Business Media. She then joined Informa and worked in their Life Sciences division on a large portfolio of pharmaceutical conferences.
In 2005, Marilyn was appointed marketing manager of the BBC Good Food Shows. In 2009, she was promoted to Head of marketing and was responsible for all the Haymarket exhibitions portfolio including BBC Gardeners’ World Live, Clothes Show Live, Autosport International, BBC Good Food Shows as well as B2B events Nursery World and Cereals leading a team of 10 marketers. In 2013, following the management buy-out of the BBC Good Food Shows and BBC Gardeners’ World Live, Marilyn joined River Street Event as Marketing Director. She was instrumental in structuring the company’s marketing department and supporting the team in delivering successful campaigns.
In March 2015, Marilyn started her marketing consultancy, Espresso Marketing offering event management, marketing strategy and training. Some of her key clients and projects past and present include Brand Events Radio Times Festival, Tom Kerridge Pub in The Park, Kirstie Allsopp Handmade ; FitzAllMedia DogFest and National Pet Show; World of Cruising Magazine ; River Street Events ; Boundless CSMA ; Clarion DSEI, Marketing Pro Group….
Marilyn has spoken at conferences including the Marketing Summit and has contributed to articles in Exhibitions News. More recently she has been working with the AEO (Association of events organisers) delivering marketing webinars. Marilyn has a real passion for events marketing as well as coaching and growing marketers. She has recently studied at the UK College of Hypnosis and is and also qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist which she plans to also bring to the events industry.
